What is Eco-Drive?

Eco-Drive is the general term applied to Citizen watches that employ a system that converts light energy, thermal energy, or motion energy into electrical energy for power instead of batteries that require replacement. Needless to say, we applied the name Eco-Drive because these watches are extraordinarily Eco-friendly.

These watches feature various power generation methods and mechanisms and come in a wide variety of designs. You're sure to find just the right model to suit your purpose and preferences.

Eco-Drive watches are Eco-friendly because they use light, thermal, and motion as their power sources. What's more, because battery replacement is unnecessary, the earth's limited resources are not wasted. And of course, there are no spent batteries to pose risk of environment damage.

Eco-Drive watches not only efficiently store generated power; they incorporate numerous newly developed technologies that minimize the energy the watches consume. Some models even have Power Save feature. With Eco-Drive watches every effort is made to prevent unnecessary energy consumption.

After being taken out of the light, the second hand and digital display stop to conserve power. Re-exposure to light automatically resumes function to current time and display data.
